Rehearsal was all a mix of old and new – some songs we’d done years ago, others we’re just adding into the rotation in preparation for this seasons gigs.

We began with Badfinger’s “Come and Get It” (1970), toying with a good key for all of us.  From there we moved to The Moody Blues “I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)” (1973) – a tune we’d worked on a few years ago but never had the chance to perform live.  Last of the “new” tunes was “Tempted” (1981) from Squeeze

Our attention then turned to songs we were already pretty familiar with.  Something we call “The Perkins Medley”, consisting of “Blue Suede Shoes” (1956), “Matchbox” (1957), and “Honey Don’t” (1956).  We then slipped back in our time machines and resurrected ”Blue Moon” (1935) which we used to perform many years ago.  We followed that with Ernie K. Doe’s hit “Mother in Law” (1961) before closing out the night appropriately with Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Just a Song Before I Go” (1977).
